Below are the most Frequently asked questions we receive regarding COVID testing. Please refer to the FAQs below if you have any questions. If your question has not been addressed on this page, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us either by phone at (703) 722-1111 or by email at INFO@CLINICALDIAGNOSTICLAB.COM.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE COVID TEST RESULTS?

The standard turnaround time for COVID test results is 48 hours.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RECEIVE RESULTS FASTER THAN THE STANDARD 48-HOUR TURNAROUND TIME?

Yes, while the standard turnaround time is 48 hours, we do have options to receive results sooner. If you require your results in 24 hours, there is an additional charge of $45. If you require your results the exact same day, there is an additional charge of $75. For same-day results, you would have your test results back by 11pm at the very latest.

ARE CHILDREN PERMITTED TO TAKE THE COVID TEST HERE?

Yes, children can take the PCR-Covid test, and the cost is the same.

ARE THERE OTHER OPTIONS BESIDES A NASAL SWAB FOR THE PCR-COVID TEST?

The most effective method of testing for the COVID-19 Coronavirus is via a Nasopharyngeal swab. A cheek or throat swab can also be performed at the request of a physician; however, either of these methods can be inaccurate and may result in an inconclusive lab result.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RAPID TEST AND PCR TEST?

The Rapid test (also known as the Antigen test) offers a fast turnaround time but is best used on patients showing symptoms. However, the rapid test results tend to be inaccurate when compared to the RT-PCR test. One can expect the results of a Rapid Test within 15 minutes*.

The RT-PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test is considered the “Golden Standard” with regards to COVID tests. The PCR test is considered the more accurate version when testing for the COVID-19 virus. Also, most flights currently require the PCR test and NOT the Rapid test.

*Please note that we do not offer the rapid test at Clinical Diagnostic Laboratories

DO I NEED TO PICK UP MY RESULTS IN PERSON?

While you may pick up results in person, the delivered lab results will be sent to the email address provided when you schedule an appointment.

HOW DO I ACCESS MY LAB RESULTS

If you came with a doctor’s order, Clinical Diagnostic Laboratories (CDL) will fax your lab results to your doctor’s office. We will also try to email results in a timely manner. However, if you do not receive your results after the given time frame, please follow up with CDL by emailing us at info@clinicaldiagnosticlab.com or call us at 703-430-1111.

The email will be from labreport@clinicaldiagnosticlab.com*. Your date of birth in the format ‘YYYYMMDD’ is your password to be used to open this report.

*Note: Always check your spam/junk mail if you have not received your results in your standard inbox!

**The easiest method of finding your results is to type the email address “labreport@clinicaldiagnosticlab.com” in your email’s search bar as results are often difficult to find when sent to the spam/junk folder.

WILL MY LAB RESULTS HAVE A QR CODE?

Yes, all of our lab results will have a QR provided which links directly to our website as a form of verification.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF TAKING A COVID 19 TEST?

Prior to taking your PCR-COVID test, you may send in your Doctor’s Order (if you have one), your ID, and your Insurance via the submission form provided if you schedule online or via our email account (INFO@CLINICALDIAGNOSTICLAB.COM) if you make a phone appointment. While you do not have to submit your information digitally, it helps speed up your in-person process.

Once you arrive, you’ll be required to sign a consent form if this is your first time here with us. Afterward, we’ll process your doctor’s order and make a copy of your ID and Insurance (if this has not already been provided). Finally, you will be permitted to take your COVID test once the nurse is available.

The PCR-COVID test takes only a few minutes to perform. The test itself involves a nasal swab that will collect a specimen from each nostril.

CAN I GET BLOODWORK OR OTHER LABS DONE AT YOUR FACILITY?

Yes, we do provide other tests. To view some of the other tests we provide you can visit this page or give us a call at (703) 430-1111.

IS THE COVID TEST FREE?

Unfortunately, no, the COVID test is not free. The cost of the test is $155 per person. If you have a Doctor’s Order/referral then you can bill the cost of your test to your insurance provider*. Otherwise, the cost of the test will have to be paid out of pocket at the time of your test.

*While we do accept most Insurance Providers, there are a few we’re not in network with. To determine if your Insurance is in network with us, please email us at INFO@CLINICALDIAGNOSTICLAB.COM or call us at (703) 430-1111.

I’M TRAVELING, CAN I BILL THE TEST TO MY INSURANCE?

If you can get a Prescription/Referral/Doctor’s Order for your trip and bring it in/have it sent to us, then the cost of the test can be billed to your insurance. However, if you are unable to get a doctor’s order then the test cannot be billed to insurance. In some instances, your insurance provider might reimburse you for the cost of your test, but we recommend speaking to your insurance provider directly for specific details.

HOW LONG BEFORE MY FLIGHT SHOULD I HAVE MY PCR TEST PERFORMED?

We encourage all patients to speak to their airline or country of arrival in order to determine the best day and time to take your PCR-Covid test. Each airline/country has different policies regarding when the test can be taken. We’re not authorized to provide a specific time frame and can’t be held liable for missed or invalid results due to timing restrictions based on the country of arrival or policy of the airline
